Dressage Gallery
With the importance it places on harmony and balance, Sumi-e is an ideal medium to capture the art of dressage, and
the artist notes many similarities between classical dressage and sumi-e
painting. Both strive to create harmony from contrast, whether that
contrast is ink and paper or horse and rider. Both are works of balance
and integration, vitality and restraint which seek to express elemental beauty.
Both strive for -- and require -- patience, rhythm and harmony.
All works are hand-painted on fine watercolor or rice paper. Each is
matted and hand-stamped by the artist. Because each is an original
artwork, no two are exactly alike nor will any be entirely identical to those
shown. However, each piece possesses the spirit of the ancient art of sumi-e
and of its subjects. Matting colors may vary.
